Level 2 Award In Ground Based Chainsaw Operations 002012 (formerly CS30/CS31)

This course has 3 units involved in it, with all the relevant subjects you will need in order to complete this course. Managing to complete all the units will allow you to complete the training in one go.

Objectives:

  • Be able to work safely
  • Be able to carry out maintenance of chainsaw and cutting system
  • Be able to carry out operational chainsaw checks
  • Know relevant health and safety legislation and industry good practice
  • Know how to carry out maintenance of chainsaw and cutting system
  • Be able to cross-cut timber using a chainsaw
  • Know how to cross-cut timber using a chainsaw
  • Be able to fell and process trees up to 380mm
  • Know how to fell and process trees up to 380mm
  • Know how to remove branches from felled trees using a chainsaw
  • Know how to take down hung-up trees

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):Chainsaw Trousers – Class 1 type A (front protection) or C (all around protection), Chainsaw Boots, Head Protection – to include head, ear and eye protection and Chainsaw Gloves

 Equipment: Chainsaw, fuel/oil, maintenance tools, felling lever and timber tongs
